Tourism is increasingly affected by climate change, environmental degradation, spatial transformation, and growing geopolitical uncertainty, all of which threaten the sustainability and resilience of destinations. Rising sea levels, extreme weather events, land-use change, ecosystem decline, and geopolitical tensions, conflicts, and disruptions to global mobility are reshaping tourism landscapes and challenging conventional development models.
This theme frames tourism as a social-ecological-spatial system in which environmental processes, spatial dynamics, geopolitical contexts, and human interactions are closely interconnected. Addressing these challenges requires integrated approaches that combine environmental sustainability and spatial resilience from geospatial and planning perspectives, alongside adaptive governance and community empowerment to ensure inclusive and resilient development.
Given the complexity of tourism, climate change, and geopolitical dynamics, multidisciplinary collaboration is essential. This conference aims to foster dialogue and research that advance resilient, sustainable, and community-centered tourism systems in an era of global environmental change and geopolitical uncertainty.
We hope that this event can strengthen our commitment to tourism by promoting greater resilience, adaptability, and environmental friendliness. All selected papers will be published in the proceedings, which will be submitted for indexing in Scopus as well as the Web of Science.
