Eco-Tourism will generate new target market and to be called as Eco Tourists. Their demand is different than ordinary tourists, and could be identified as REAL (Rewarding, Enriching, Adventuresome, Learning) traveler. Their respect to the destination (natural and cultural) are relatively higher than mass tourists and have specific interests and also abilities. They need to challenge themselves in various condition, climate, and territorial to reach exotic destination, and intend to learn something new from experience by close contact with the locals and experience the local way of life.
Thus, Tourism Department in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) initiate the International Seminar to discuss about sustainable tourism development, demand and impact from construction of eco-resort. Eventually, this seminar will generate the new concept of sustainable and responsible tourism development in Indonesia especially in Eco Resort based on Economic Viable, Community Acceptable, and Environmentally Sustainable.
Conference Purposes and Goals
- To promote a destination planning and development model that based on economic viable, community acceptable and environmental sustainable.
- To share knowledge regarding the impact of tourism development and its solutions.
- To develop a suitable model of eco-resorts and sustainable ecotourism destinations.
- To enhance tourism resources integration in order to create sustainable tourism destination.
- Optimizing Indonesian Tourism Destination to build Sustainable Development.
- Creating the specific guidance for regional tourism destination with adjustments from new tourism development paradigm, regional autonomy, and new target markets in form of resorts.
- Generate new formulation regarding certification of EcoResort and EcoTourism Standardization which is implemented by stakeholders, institution, government and association.
The conference has been successfully done with 146 participants and 5 different countries.
